Export sequences and timecode to grandMA3 as a macro

CuePoints exports your cues to grandMA3 as a macro: one file carrying sequences, timecode objects and pages together.

File > Export…, set up the three panels as described in Exporting to Consoles, and press Export to GrandMA3.

Cue Playbacks: Your Sequences

  • Sequence Per Cue Point Type: one sequence for each cue type on each track.

  • Merge Cue Points: all selected cue types into a single cue list.

EXEC ID: where each sequence lands. 101+1 fills in 101, 102, 103 down the list.

CMD: what happens when timecode reaches the cue:

  • Go: the normal choice for your main cue lists.

  • Goto: jumps to the cue and asserts tracked values, so it's right even if the desk wasn't running from the top.

  • Temp: holds while active and releases on the fade time. Best for hits of varying length.

  • Top: builds a hit-and-release follow cue, for an effect fired again and again.

FIXED: on Top and Temp only. Points several tracks at one sequence rather than making a copy for each.

Track Playbacks: Your Pages

PAGE: which page each track goes to. 1+1 gives pages 1, 2, 3, 4.

With Merge Cue Points you also choose One Executor Per Track or One Executor for the whole show.

Sequence, Pool And Timecode Options

Sequence: cue appearance (default, or your CuePoint colours), what the note column carries, where in the pool the export starts, and the spacing between objects.

Pool: how the pool objects themselves appear.

Timecode: one timecode object per track, or everything merged into one. You also choose how the track offset is applied, where the timecode pool goes, and a global latency adjustment if the desk consistently fires a touch early or late against the recording.

Pick a block of exec IDs and pool locations that isn't in use. Each export builds fresh objects rather than folding into ones already on the desk, so a clean block keeps them separate.

Getting It Onto The Desk

  1. Export to a USB stick, into gma3_library/datapools/macros.

  2. On the desk, open the macro window, import CuePoints Export, and run it.

Or from the command line:

Drive 2 is the USB stick; change it to match yours. Macro 1 is any free macro slot.

Live Control Is A Different Thing

This page is about exporting a cue list. grandMA3 can also drive CuePoints live over OSC, press GO on the desk and a cue appears in CuePoints as you tech. That uses a separate set of macros and is covered on the OSC page.
