Things CuePoints does that are easy to miss.
Set The Offset From Where You Are
Put the playhead exactly where you want the timecode to start, then choose Tools > New Offset From Current Position….
This is the fast way to line CuePoints up with a video reference clock when the media is already on the timeline, find the frame, set the offset, done.
Move Cues By A Percentage
Select the cues you want, right-click, and choose Move Cue Points by…. Enter a percentage, positive or negative.
Use it when the whole piece runs faster or slower than the version you programmed against and every cue needs stretching by the same proportion.
Renumber From The Middle
In the Cue ID column, type 10+1. Everything from that cue on renumbers in steps of 1.
To number a block of cues in one go, select them, right-click, and choose Sequential Cue IDs from selection….
Two Shortcuts In The Fade Time Column
Type
+and the fade becomes exactly the gap to the next cue, so one cue runs straight into the next.Type
1/2for a 1-second fade up and a 2-second fade down.
Jump Straight To A Cue
Cmd+G opens Go to Cue. Type the number, press Enter.
Solo A Cue Type
Solo one CuePoint Type to work on it without the rest of the show in the way. Your visibility settings are untouched, turn solo off and everything comes back.
Loop A Section While You Work
Set an A-B Loop around the part you're rehearsing and it repeats until you stop it.
Separately, Loopback to Start Point on Pause: shortcut R: sends the playhead back to where you started as soon as you pause, so you can run the same passage again immediately.
Let CuePoints Number Your Keys
Turn on Auto-populate numeric shortcuts in Settings > Shortcuts and your visible cue types get the number keys 1 to 0 automatically. No assigning anything by hand.
Tidy Up Visibility On A Big Project
Track > Reset CuePoint Type Visibilities To > Used Types In Each Track sets every track to show exactly the types it actually contains. On a show with a lot of tracks this saves a great deal of clicking.
Edit Every Track In One Pass
Edit All Tracks steps through the whole project one track at a time; the quickest way to check every offset and framerate before a show.
Take An Archive Copy Of A Shared Project
File > Save A Copy As… writes a standalone file that doesn't sync. Use it for an end-of-run archive, or to hand a frozen version to someone outside the team.
